Roger Ackling 
1947 – 2014
Lived and worked in London and Norfolk, UK 

Roger Ackling was born in 1947 in Isleworth, on the north shore of the River Thames in West London. He studied on the Groundcourse at Ealing Art College before joining an influential generation of students at Saint Martin’s School of Art, where he formed lasting friendships with artists such as Richard Long and Hamish Fulton. He died in 2014 at his home near the Norfolk coast. His works have been exhibited in over 200 solo shows across the globe and are held in numerous collections including the Tate Gallery, Victoria and Albert Museum, and British Museum, London; Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; Museum Folkwang, Essen; Museum Moderner Kunst, Vienna; Kunsthaus, Zurich; Kunstmusem, Basel; Museum of Contemporary Art, Geneva; Fogg Art Museum, Harvard; Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo; Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney.
