Now representing Wim T. Schippers

Wim T. Schippers (Groningen, 1942) is an artist, broadcaster, filmmaker, playwright and songwriter and is considered one of the most influential conceptual artists of the Netherlands. He began making art in Amsterdam in the 1960s, where he formed artist groups with Ger van Elk, Willem de Ridder and Bob Wesdorp. In the spirit of Dadaist Marcel Duchamp and in response to the dynamics of painting in the ’50s, they strove to achieve a certain dullness and shapelessness in their so called ‘a-dynamic‘ artworks. Further inspired by movements such as fluxus and pop-art, Schippers also used television and radio as media to express his ideas. His radio programme, Ronflonflon avec Jacques Plafond(1984–91), was one of the most popular in the Netherlands. Schippers is also the author of over 40 plays. His mix of absurdist humour with commercial broadcasts and traditional artistic media is now considered pioneering. 

In 2016 the Bonner Kunstverein, Bonn (DE) held a retrospective survey of the work of Wim T. Schippers.

One of his most famous artworks, the Peanut-butter Platform, was aqcuired in 2010 by Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam. His works are also in the collections of Centraal Museum, Utrecht and Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam and in many private collections in the Netherlands and abroad. 

His work will be shown for the first time with the gallery at TEFAF Maastricht 2022.
